These days commercial products come in very attractive packs – vibrant colors, fine images and surprising textures make the product pack just irresistible to buy. So what is that makes these products so irresistible? This is the different modern techniques of printing used by the printing & packaging companies. When these techniques are so widely used to compel you try at least for once, would not you like to know about them?
This technique involves etching artwork, using ink and pressing technique to create an impression on the packaging surface. The image to be engraved comprise of millions of cells that are filled with ink at extremely high press speed to create quick image. Rotogravure can also be used for applying adhesives and coatings on the material for flexible packaging, such as wrappers and shrink-wrap labels.
This is the easiest technique used for decorating packaging. Flexography is mostly used for corrugated containers, plastic bags, disposable cups, food wrappers and beverage cartons. The technique can produce high quality impression on any surface and that too at least expenses. Moreover, it combines the printing techniques of both rotogravure and letterpress, using water-base curable inks and flexible relief plates.
It is different from both the above techniques, because it uses printing plates that contains texts and image. These plates are coated with ink and then transferred or offset to the rubber blanket. Image is transferred to the packaging surface (mostly paper or paperboard). With offset, up to 1 million impressions can be created.
There are many other techniques used by printing & packaging companies for commercial product projects but these are top three and most popular among all.
